I saw this link today. Very good stuff. And I think points out what an iconic story it is. It’s a story “type”, a subgenre – character from a powerful establishment goes out to help subdue/exploit a “primitive” people, falls in love with the people & goes native, fights his former bosses. I still kind of think that ROTJ isn’t really a Star Wars movie. I don’t know what it is. It’s some kind of 1980’s thing, but I don’t think it’s a Star Wars movie. As wretched as the prequels are, they’re still…well…Star Wars – just barely in some cases, but they are Star Wars.
